Hello, World!

For the last several years I've been swearing up and down that I would never become a blogger, mostly on principle. You see, what bothers me about bloggers isn't that they rant on and on about things that no-one else cares about, it's that they think it's important enough to put up on the internet. If you want to rant, that's what your dog/gold fish/oak tree is there for.
But I've been swearing less and less lately (never was into cussing) because, frankly, I've found that a good portion of the most useful information I find on the web these days is in sombody's blog. They lend themselves well to chronologically organized up-to-the-minute commentary on subjects that change and evolve too quickly to summarize afterward. The finer details and nuances that make politics, economics, technology and pretty much everything in life interesting don't compress well into an all-in-one tome.

So here I am, and I'm going to use this blog to keep track of what I think of various events and happenings and trends as they unfold, and who knows, maybe some of it will be useful to others. And if not, at least it will be here for me to peruse for my own enjoyment, through a medium and with the availability that I've become accustomed to when seeking information - the Wonderful Wild Web.
