Military Life

Days like today I wonder why I am in the military. This afternoon, I and 6 other junior members of my company arrived late to muster. Our company is only 15 members strong, and 6 of them are officers or chiefs. If you just did the math, that leaves a grand total of 2 junior sailors who mustered on time.

At this point, the leadership might have asked themselves "did we remember to get the word out concerning muster time?"

But that didn't happen. Instead, they reamed the LPO, who came down on us, and then informed us that we would now be mustering 10 minutes early every day, just to make sure it didn't happen again. If it did, we would be mustering individually 30 minutes early.

I also got an email and voice mail today requiring me to declare any relatives in Mexico living within 200 miles of the border. Good ol' Uncle Sam, always looking for new and creative ways to flag potential security risks, when the older, simpler methods work just fine when they're actually used.
